We are buying 10 winter sleeping bags.

I started this campaign because there are a lot of young people that lost their jobs due to Covid and are unfortunate enough to lose their places and have nowhere to go. Talked to a couple of young looking guys ... They have never imagined they get to this point. And are hoping things will get better soon... But it just isn't, anxiety and depression make life even harder to bear.

Now they have to face the cold winter of New York in the streets. Can it get worse? I am afraid it can. In their minds it does... When you have no one to turn to, you can get into a very dark place in your mind. It's what makes it hard for homeless people to get their lives back.

Here is the story of Daniel, who turned to the streets after losing his job as an engineer and being bullied in the shelter he was placed in. The Grand Central Food Program has been one of the only positive forces in his life. We have provided him with hot meals, as well as emotional support and necessities like warm clothing, toiletries, and a sleeping bag – and a used laptop to help him search for employment. Always thinking of others in need, Daniel routinely gives back to the program by sending job postings for other homeless people and donating clothing that doesn’t fit him quite right. Daniel is still working to restore the life he once had. Until he does, the GCFP will continue to be there for him every night. 

I want, with this small gesture, to give these young women and men the feeling that they are not truly alone, and hope that it gives them a bit of hope to keep hanging. To not fall into the pathway of homelessness. 

I reached out to Charles from Habitat for Humanity. He confirmed that sleeping bags are very needed at this moment. 

I also reached out to sleeping bag suppliers to buy 10 Sleeping bags. and got some proposals. Please check them out in the proposal tab and help us choose by up-voting your favorite! 

Your support will help us buy the 10 sleeping bags. Please make your commitment. Any amount is appreciated and will make a difference. You don't need to pay it if we cannot reach the funding goal. 

When there are commitments enough to cover the sleeping bags cost, we will then raise the funds and buy the sleeping bags quickly. 

The sleeping bags will be shipped directly to ReStore, then distributed to young homeless that really need a support right now.
